Rotary/CCAR Backpacks Project

The annual backpacks project has its roots in Charleston  Rotary members stepping forward to partner with CCAR Industries in recognition of Rotary’s 100th anniversary.  The goal was to pack 100 backpacks for children entering the foster care system through the Charleston office. We have continued to do this every year since.   Many of these children come with no possessions and have nothing to call their own.  CCAR Industries traditionally purchases the backpacks, and the Charleston Rotary Club provides $300 to help with the costs.  This funding  along with donations from community members is used to  purchase the items that go into the backpacks.  Since its inception we have provided 1157 backpacks for children in the foster system.
